Search for recalls, safety information before you buy

The federal government has launched a website that brings information about product safety into Strongsville homes.

The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission went live in March with the SaferProducts.gov database.

Consumers are able to visit the site to submit reports about potentially harmful products, look for recalls and search for safety information on a wide range of products.

"Reporting product safety incidents through this new, easy-to-use site will help CPSC identify product hazards quicker and provide consumers with safety information on products in and around the home," a news release from the agency said.

Among the most-searched topics on the site are appliances, strollers, cribs, toys and diapers.
