Police Blotter: Another Gun Found in Bathroom; Caller Promises $10 Million

A customer came out of the restroom at on Royalton Road Aug. 21 and told employees he'd seen a handgun.

The store owner retrieved the pistol from the bathroom before police arrived.

It is the second time a gun was found in a public restroom this month. On Aug. 12, a in the men's room at .

The owner of that gun was found; he said he'd forgotten it.

Lucky Day -- Or Not

A Holly Circle resident told police he is tired of getting calls from someone who says he's won $10 million.

The man said the calls have come repeatedly on his home phone and cell. The caller says he's from the lottery, and want the lucky resident to go to Walmart to collect his $10 million. 

Shopper Gains Weight

An alleged shoplifter at was apprehended Aug. 22 after leaving the store with a waistband that was considerably larger than when he came in.

The man was apprehended in the parking lot with items from the store.

Needle Found

A syringe with needle attached was found in a Webster Road driveway Aug. 22.

Police gave it to the Fire Department for disposal.

Sneaky Shoplifters

Two men were spotted putting duct tape over their license plate as they headed into about noon Aug. 21, a report said.

They then allegedly grabbed a vacuum cleaner from the store and fled.

Police couldn't find the car, but a Kohl's employee called back to say the men were later apprehended at the store in Fairview Park.

Suspicious Boys in Black

A caller reported three boys dressed in black, wearing black masks and carying guns at Foresview and Albion about 4:30 p.m. Aug. 23.

Police found several kids in a nearby back yard. They were dressed in dark clothing, but weren't doing anything wrong, a report said.

Roof Damage?

A Gifford Court resident complained that a roofing company that visited to give an estimate actually damaged his roof.

The man said they lifted up shingles in order to get the job. He wanted police to document the damage.

Hit-Run with Wheelchair

Witnesses said a woman in a wheelchair was struck by a gray van that left the scene Aug. 23.

The woman, who was hit at Albion and Pearl roads, complained of injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police stopped a van matching the description, but it wasn't the right one, a report said.
