Police Blotter: Bag with 'Hair' Unearthed; Someone Living in Concession Stand

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A resident made a fairly grisly discovery behind a Pearl Road apartment building March 20.

The resident found a blue tote bag partially buried in the ground, with grass growing on top. When he pulled at it, he found a blanket and something that looked like hair inside, then called police.

Officers looked inside and discovered it was a pet dog or cat someone had buried.

The resident called maintenance to rebury it.

Looks like someone might be crashing at the rec fields near the .

City workers found a sleeping bag and some personal items in the concession stand March 20.

Police said they would keep an eye on it and advise the squatter to move on if they see him.

Above and Beyond

Police officers often do good deeds that don't get reported -- like closing garage doors or car trunks that residents accidentally leave open at night.

Here's another: On March 19, an elderly woman told police she fears someone has been coming into her house at night and taking her papers. She said she couldn't sleep until she had new locks on her doors.

An officer visited the woman, spoke with a family friend about her condition, and then offered to come back and install the locks for her.

Another Payday Cash Scam?

A woman reported March 20 that she is receiving repeated phone calls from a cash advance company that claims she owes $535.

The woman said she already repaid the $250 she owed, but now is being told she owes extra.

Police called the company, but the representative refused to give any information.

The woman said she thinks it is a scam. Last week, another resident involving a payday cash advance business.

Bike Stolen

A Mongoose trick bike was stolen from a garage on Stag Thicket Lane between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 19.
