Police Blotter: Burglary; Car Break-In; Beggar at Drug Mart

A Westminster Drive family came home Sept. 12 to find the doors to their house open -- and it isn't the first time.

The residents said this marks the fourth time they have found doors open. One time, a doorknob was broken.

In this case, they found the garage door and the door to the laundry room standing open.

Nothing in the house seemed to be missing or tampered with.

Police advised them to change the code on their garage door opener.

GPS Stolen

A Garmin GPS valued at $350 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Main Street between Sept. 10 and 12.

The victim said a neighbor also had a theft from his car.

No Panhandling, Please

A man kept walking around the parking lot at Discount Drug Mart Sept. 10, asking people for money.

The man was in his 40s, wearing a hoodie and carrying a backpack.

The store manager asked police to stand by in the lot at 10 p.m. when employees went to their cars. Officers couldn't locate the man there or in other nearby parking lots.

No Paparazzi, Either

A man took pictures of a house on Blue Spruce Drive Sept. 22, according to a report.

The victims said they were working outside and saw the SUV parked in front, but thought nothing of it.

However, their neighbor said he saw the man taking pictures, and when he confronted the driver, he took off.

Underage Drinking on Westwood

A jogger reported a bunch of kids running through back yards on Westwood Drive about 3:20 a.m. Sept. 12.

Police found the group at the house of one of the teens, and also found two of them had been drinking. Both were cited.

Police also found several mailboxes knocked over, but the teens denied responsibility.

Flash of Light

A Lorraine Drive woman heard a pop and saw a flash of light about 1 a.m. Sept. 10. 

Police couldn't find anything unusual, but spoke with a neighbor who thought it came from farther down the street.
