Police Blotter: Dog Wearing Plaid Coat Blocks Street, Someone Smoking in Driveway, Car Not as Suspicious as it Seems

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A woman trying to get down Lorraine Drive Feb. 22 said she couldn't do it because a dog wearing a plaid sweater kept blocking the road, barking at her.

She told police about 8:40 a.m. when she tried to drive forward, the dog stood in the road in front of her; when she backed up, it ran around and stood behind her car.

Police alerted the animal warden, but an officer spotted a dog wearing an Ohio State sweater.

A Woodfield Trail resident reported about 6:30 a.m. Feb. 23 that a dark-colored car drove down the street slowly and parked in the cul-de-sac.

Police didn't have to look far for the suspicious vehicle -- it was a police cruiser.

No Smoking Zone

A Boston Road resident complained someone must be standing at the end of her driveway to smoke.

The woman told police she never sees the smoker, but finds cigarette butts at the end of her drive.

Police put the area on special attention.

Driver Passes Out

A motorist alerted police about 12:45 p.m. Feb. 23 after he saw a man in another call fall asleep at the wheel while driving on Royalton Road near Howe Road.

Another driver woke the man, a report said.

Police stopped the sleepy driver's car as he was getting onto I-71. The man passed a breath test and consented to a search of the vehicle, which turned up nothing suspicious.
