Police Blotter: Fake Grandson Scams Nana Out of $2,500
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Pearl Road grandma is the latest victim of a scam that preys on older people.
Police said the woman received a call from someone who said he was her grandson and in trouble in another country.
The woman sent $2,500 to help him out.

Her daughter later found out and alerted police, who also spoke with managers of the retirement community. Police said they may present a seminar on that type of fraud for the residents there.

A Greenfield Place woman called police about 6:15 a.m. March 18 after a man repeatedly pounded on her door -- so hard, in fact, that he damaged it.
Police found the man intoxicated. He told officers he thought he was at his friend's house.
He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Vandalism on Wilmington
A resident on Wilmington Drive awoke March 17 to find the cable box in the front yard hanging on his neighbor's lamp post.
Another resident on the street also reported the plastic crossbar on his light post was broken.
Disturbance on Whitney
A Whitney Road woman decided that 11:30 p.m. was too late for new tenants to move in, so she blocked the door, yelled and swung her cane.
A witness said the new tenants, who had been moving in all day, were not the ones making the noise -- the complaining woman was.
Officers sent her back to her apartment and allowed the new people to bring in their last few items.
No Carting
A go cart in Hunting Meadows was stopped by police after complaints from residents March 17.
A report said the officer game the driver "his first and final warning about driving the go cart on the street."
Man in Black
A Homestead Park resident found a male dressed in black going through his garage about 11 p.m. March 17.
The culprit took off on a bike.
