Police Blotter: Family Finds 'Intruder' in their Home; Suspicious Liquid

Police were called to Colleen Court about 9:15 p.m. Friday after a family returned home from vacation to find an animal in their house.

The furry intruder was locked in an upstairs bathroom when the call came in. A report said it was uncertain what kind of animal it was, but there were "peanuts all over the place."

Animal Warden Mike Roth reported the animal was a young raccoon, which had apparently gotten in by opening the screen door.

"The little guy left a few welcome home presents in the bathroom, but the homeowners are happy to have had the critter put back outside," the report said.

Bus Pulled Over

Police stopped a bus being used by Cleveland Central Catholic Friday night and discovered the driver was not authorized to handle a school bus.

Officers stood by until a driver with a school bus endorsement could be found to operate the vehicle.

Green Water

A Handle Road resident called his councilman, who called police Sunday about a liquid that looked like antifreeze leaking into the Rocky River.

The resident sent an email to Council President Mike Daymut and the Cleveland Metroparks with a picture of the green liquid.

Police determined workers from the county had been out to test a septic system and had put a green dye into the pipe, which turned the water the unusual color.

3 Kids Missing from School

The principal of asked police to check on the welfare of three students who didn't show up for classes last week.

The phone numbers listed for the kids weren't working.

Police spoke with neighbors, who said the house on Woodleaf Road where the family was supposed to live had been foreclosed months ago and was still vacant.

In additon, the neighbors said the family who lived there had a different last name than the one in the school's records.

Yucky Mischief

A Ledgepoint Place resident found her car window and door handle smeared with dog feces Sunday.

The woman said her property was also vandalized a few weeks ago.
