Police Blotter: Grandma Scammed by Fake Grandson; Food Court Theft; Strange Odor
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Howe Road woman fell for a scam in which someone called claiming to be her grandson in trouble.
The caller said he was in jail in Canada and needed help.
The woman sent $560 via Western Union before she discovered her grandson was fine.

Food Court Theft
A mall employee left his $450 cell phone and his wallet on a table in the food court May 29 when he got up to throw some trash away.

When he got back, both were gone.
Trash Talking
When you don't have a tree lawn, where do you put your trash on garbage day?
On Commons Oval and Lake Circle, some people are putting it on the sidewalk, a report said.
One resident complained he has to walk in the street on trash night because the sidewalks are blocked.
Police referred the matter to the Building Department.
Boys with Bows
A witness reported two boys on bikes with bows and arrows at the park across from the tennis courts on Ellsworth Drive about 8:45 p.m. May 28.
They were gone when police arrived.
Odor-iffic
A strange odor coming from a garage drove some Whitney Road residents from their homes at 3 a.m. May 28.
Police determined a leaking snow blower was causing the smell.
