Police Blotter: Hole Drilled in Gas Tank; Car Alarm Scares Off Thief

Someone stole gasoline from a car on Polo Club Drive the night of Sept. 18 by drilling a hole in the gas tank.

A tow truck driver pointed out handprints on the gas tank.

The owner said the car dealer told him they are also repairing another car damaged in the same way.

Thief Runs

A man on Golden Star Drive heard his car alarm going off about 1 a.m. Sept. 19 and looked outside in time to see a male get out of his car and run south.

The car had been locked, a report said. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Driver Nabbed for Hitting Sign

A witness saw four younger males in a silver car hit a street sign at Fallingwater and Pearl roads about 5:45 p.m. Sept. 18.

Officers located the car on Pheasant Run and cited the driver for hit-skip.

Not Really Home Alone

A witness reported a boy about 8 years old standing in his driveway on Hunt Road and crying about 4:15 p.m. Sept. 18.

The youth was reportedly holding a sign that said "Please Donate" and said he was home alone and poor.

The boy's parents got home a few minutes later and said they'd been at a doctor's appointment that ran late, so they weren't there when their son got off the bus.

The youth said he didn't know where his parents were and was scared, so he went out to the driveway.

Car Keyed

Someone reportedly keyed a car parked at the Cleveland Clinic Family Health and Surgery Center Sept. 17.

The scratch ran from the door to the rear bumper.
