Police Blotter: Man in Car has Shotgun, Witness Says
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A witness told police he saw a man sitting in a car at the on Royalton Road with a shotgun in his lap.
The man, who reported the gun about 8 p.m. Jan. 16, said the car was at the pump and there was no driver when he saw it.
The blue Taurus was not there when police arrived, so officers also checked the station across the street in case the caller had gotten the stations confused.

Police then tracked down the caller, who said the passenger was a light-skinned African American who looked to be 16 or 17.
Employees at BP said they had not noticed the car. Also, a manager said no purchases were made at that pump for 40 minutes before the car was reported.

Driving Into Snowbanks On Purpose
Police were called to about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 16 about a Ram and a Jeep doing doughnuts and running over snow piles in the parking lot.
Officers spoke with the drivers, who admitted they were driving into snowbanks for fun.
They were told to stop.
Job Scam
A woman on Pioneers Creek received a suspicious response when she applied for a job on Craig's List.
She was sent a check for $2,700, with a letter telling her to cash it and contact a third person by email for further instructions.
Police said it was a scam and advised her to throw away the check.
Tires Slashed
Two employees of went out to find their tires punctured Jan. 17.
The damage was done between 6:20 and 7 p.m.
Not a Real Threat
Someone reported a man and a woman walking around a Big Creek Parkway yard about 5 p.m. Jan. 18.
Police drove by and recognized them as the owners of the property.
Cross at the Crossing
Malfunctioning railroad gates caused some headaches for motorists on Royalton Road starting around 7 a.m. Jan. 17.
Police directed traffic when the gates stuck in the down position. Over the next two hours, the gates went up a few times, but came back down. Police stayed on the scene to help with traffic until about 9:30, when the gates went up and stayed up.
CSX notified police at 10:40 a.m. that the gates had been repaired.
