Police Blotter: Neighborhood Hit by Car Break-ins; Snake Coiled Under Woman's Vehicle

A woman called for help Aug. 12 when she went to her car at the Towers at Falling Water and found a large snake coiled up underneath.

The snake slithered into a wooded area before police arrived.

The officer referred the woman to the animal warden about possibly trapping the snake.

Thefts from Vehicles

At least three cars in one neighborhood -- two on East Bend Drive and one on Butternut Circle -- were targeted by thieves the night of Aug. 10.

A laptop computer and a backpack with a wallet inside was taken from one car on East Bend. 

A gym bag containing an iPod was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the same street. The gym bag was found in the neighbor's bushes, but the iPod was gone.

On Butternut, an iPad was taken from an unlocked vehicle.

Curtain Call?

Two girls with drapes on their heads, along with three boys, knocked on a North Wood Trail door and rang the doorbell about 10 p.m. Aug. 12. 

They left on foot when the resident didn't answer.

Gun or Fireworks?

A Saratoga Trail resident heard what sounded like a high-powered rifle about 10:20 p.m. Aug. 10, a report said.

An officer who was in the area said he heard firecrackers about the same time.

And Again

A resident of Oxford Drive reported hearing either gunshots or fireworks about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 11.

A report said the resident was hearing the fireworks from the Cuyahoga County Fair.
