Police Blotter: Purses Held Hostage in Domestic Dispute

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Lenox Drive woman called police Oct. 17 to report her boyfriend was demanding $500 and said if she didn't give it to him, he would cut up her purses.

An acquaintance offered to store the purses in her office, a report said.

But the victim then called that woman to say he still had one of the purses.

Police referred the incident to the Probation Department to see if they could get the woman's handbags back.

A Stag Thicket Lane man told police he was followed through Strongsville Oct. 17, even when he pulled into the police station lot.

There, he confronted the man following him, who asked for his Social Security number.

The Stag Thicket man got back in his car and went home then, with the other man still following.

Police located a car matching the description on Hawks Lookout and questioned the owner, who admitted he had been following someone.

He could not offer a reason why, a report said.

Expensive Shopping Trip

A $1,500 watch and $480 phone were stolen from a car parked in front of  Oct. 14.

The owner told police he went into the store for 10 minutes and came out to find the items missing.

He said he wasn't sure if he locked the vehicle.

Burglary in Ledgewood

Someone broke a bathroom window to get into a house on Fallingwater Road Oct. 18.

The resident came home to find jewelry missing and the basement in disarray.

The burglary took place between 10:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.

Suspicious Visitor

Employees at got worried after a teenager came in acting "spacy" and asking questions about phone numbers at the schools.

He was 17 to 19, with dark shoulder-length hair and earrings in both ears.
