Police Blotter: Raccoons Making 'Horrible Noises;' Solicitor Arrested after Lying in Mulch

Neighbors called police to a Stoughton Drive home July 8 after hearing "horrible noises" from raccoons in a yard.

The residents said they could see at least one raccoon in a trap and another roaming the fenced-in yard about 10:45 p.m. They believed the animals might be sick.

Police contacted the resident, who said yes, she has six raccoons hanging around her back yard. 

She told officers she has made a number of calls to the city seeking help getting rid of them. 

A report said one raccoon was in a trap, and another trap was set in the yard.

Theft from Yard

A Lakeview Circle resident reported the theft of a geranium flag and wooden "hello" and "good-bye" signs from her yard July 8.

The items were taken within the previous day or two.

Mulch Nap Leads to Arrest

A woman who was part of a group collecting signatures for an air pollution petition wound up in jail July 7 after taking a breather in a planting area.

A passerby reported a woman lying in the mulch at the corner of Albion Road and Fox Grove. Her shirt was pulled up and her shoes were off, the report said.

Police found the woman was not exposed, but she did have a warrant for contempt of court.

Officers notified Lakewood police, who took her into custody.

Paint the Town Orange

Someone shot orange paintballs an an Ellsworth Drive house about 10:30 p.m. July 8, a report said.

The shots came from the back of the property.

Theft from Vehicle

A Bennington Drive resident reported July 6 that items were taken from his car within the last four or five days.

Missing were an iPod and a radar detector.

Party on Kylemore

Neighbors complained just after midnight July 7 about kids on a patio drinking and being loud.

The kids ran inside when police arrived, turning off the lights and locking the doors. Officers found empty beer containers on the back porch.

The neighbor called again about 1:30 a.m. to say the kids were back outside shooting off fireworks.

This time, police called the mom's cell phone, who said she was on her way home and would meet with officers.

The boys apologized for being loud and for hiding. They promised police would not hear from the for the rest of the summer.
