Police Blotter: Shoplifter Tries to Make Amends by Throwing Money

Two young shoplifters detained at SouthPark Mall may have had some feelings of guilt after being apprehended Dec. 10.

An employee at Justice told police she detained two girls who looked to be about 13 and recovered items from Claire's.

Before security arrived, one girl threw a $10 bill on the floor and ran with her friend through Macy's.

Officers couldn't locate them.

Woman Thinks She Sees Gun

A woman told police she saw a man in a black outfit who was possibly carrying a gun on Crystal Creek Drive at Royalton Road about 8:20 a.m. Dec. 12.

She said she wasn't sure if it was a gun due to the sun glare.

Police couldn't locate the man.

Too Heavy to Steal

A Strongsville service department worker saw a man try to load an electric cart that belongs to Discount Drug Mart into his vehicle about 9:45 a.m. Dec. 11.

The car was too heavy for the man to lift, so he drove off.

The employee provided police the license plate number.

Strange Noises

A woman on Gate Post Road said she heard someone jiggling her front door knob about 10:20 p.m. Dec. 10.

Her 9-year-old also heard someone knocking on his window.

Police checked around the house, but found no one lurking and no footprints.

Beeping Alarm

A Ledgeside Drive resident called for help when her security alarm went off about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 10.

She couldn't get it to shut off, a report said.

An officer called the alarm company, which walked him through silencing and resetting the alarm for her.
