Police Blotter: Solicitor Tries to Open Door; Woman Takes Picture of Girl; 'Weapon' Complaint is All Wet

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A Webster Road man was upset May 29 when a solicitor opened his screen door, then tried to open the inside door, a report said.

When the resident opened his door, the visitor said he was collecting signatures.

The resident was so angry he followed the solicitor's vehicle through the neighborhood. The car had left when police arrived, but officers said they would contact the solicitors.

Paddling the Pond

A resident complained about a boy in a paddle boat in a retention basin on Hunt Road about 8 p.m. May 29.

The youth had an air soft gun, the witness said.

The boy was gone, but other neighbors said the boy paddles around with a squirt gun.

Civil Matter

A woman asked police for advice about furniture she bought with a credit card. She said her husband wouldn't let her have it.

Advice was given, a report said.

No Pictures, Please

A mom complained to police on Memorial Day that a woman took a picture of her daughter while she was marching in the parade.

She said the woman's behavior is "odd" and she feared she would post the photo on the Internet.

Police said because the girl was in a public event, the woman did not need permission to take her picture.

Officers said if the photo turns up somewhere inappropriate, she should contacted police again.

Chasing Mischief Makers

A Forestview Drive man chased kids who were out about 1:40 a.m. May 28, saying they may have been the ones damaging property in the neighborhood.

Police spoke with the father of one of the boys, who admitted to toilet-papering a yard.

They did not appear to be the vandals from previous incidents. They agreed to clean up the TP in the morning.

Scammers Get Aggressive

A Nantucket Row resident got nervous after she received a fake check, then a phone call from someone threatening to come to her house.

Police called the number back, but the man hung up.

The woman was told to call police if anyone showed up at her house.

Suspicious Walker

A resident of Quali Hollow Drive spotted a male wearing a hoodie walking through yards, close to the houses, just before midnight May 29. 

He caller then saw him walking back on the other side of the street, again going through the yards near the homes.
