Police said the jug appeared to contain pond water. It was not known why it was in the tree or who put it there.

Money Out the Window

Witnesses reported an elderly man with a cane walking on I-71 about 10 a.m. July 26, apparently going for help after his car broke down.

That wasn't the case, though -- the man said some money flew out of his checkbook, so he pulled over to look for it.

He was still missing $35, but officers told him it wasn't safe to walk on the interstate. He agreed to leave, but police suspected he would return, and called Brunswick police to be on the lookout.

Sure enough, Brunswick officers found him on the road again soon afterward, looking for his cash.

Man Outside

A Greenwood Drive woman heard a man cough and saw him shine a light in her window about 4 a.m. July 26, a report said.

She told police she only saw the shape of a person, and said the light could have been car headlights.

2 Incidents on Collier

Two residents of Collier Drive reported crimes July 24.

One awoke to find a tire on her car punctured. The car had been parked in the driveway. There were two puncture marks in the sidewall.

The other said someone poured gasoline around his vehicle. A few days earlier, the resident said he had found a note on the windshield telling him to stop calling the police.

Garbage Truck Fire

A Cleveland garbage truck caught fire on Pearl Road about 3:30 p.m. July 26, forcing the driver to dump his load in the parking area on Valley Parkway.

Cleveland sent out another truck to scoop up the trash.

Police had to close Pearl Road at Idlewood Trail while firefighters put out the blaze.

Suspects Caught

A man told police he was chasing a male who was breaking into cars on Saratoga Trail about 5:40 a.m. July 24.

The witness said the suspect was seen with two women on Saratoga, and he saw the guy run into another house on the street.

Another resident called about the same time to say his car alarm had gone off.

Police arrested all three suspects. A report said the victim's mailbox was also damaged.
