Police Blotter: Trash-Picker Visits 4 Times then Leaves a Mess; Solicitor Gets Mouthy

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A trash-picker visited a house on Celianna Drive three times July 15, then came back a fourth time and took the whole bag, according to a report.

A resident told police about 6 p.m. the picker -- an older man with a beard who was riding a bicycle -- had been by his trash three times, and had ripped open the bags and made a mess on the tree lawn.

The resident chased him away, but alerted police in case he was doing it at other houses.

About 8 p.m., the trash-picker came back and again went through the bags. When the resident yelled, he biked away, taking one of the trash bags with him.

He was gone when police arrived.

Excuse Me?

A solicitor reportedly made a snide comment to a Royalton Road resident who refused to buy his product July 14.

A report said the solicitor was selling something to do with scholarships for $200. 

When the resident said no, the seller "made a nasty comment about the cars in the driveway and how he could afford it," a report said.

Police caught up with the rude salesman and told him to stop soliciting until he gets a permit.

Theft from Auto

A GPS valued at $200 was stolen from a car in an apartment parking lot on Whitney Road the night of July 12.

The car was unlocked, a report said.

Man Dressed Like Police Officer

A witness reported a man who was dressed like a police officer and carrying a briefcase on Royalton Road at I-71 about 8 a.m. July 13.

Police said the man had worked overnight as a private security officer for and had missed his bus home.

An officer gave him a ride to Drake Road to wait for the next bus.

Gunshots Reported

A Howe Road woman reported hearing two gunshots about 10 minutes apart around 11:30 p.m. July 15.

They sounded like they were coming from behind her house, she said.
