Police Blotter: Woman Falls for Gift Card Scam in Checkout Line
The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

A shopper at gave cash to a man in exchange for his gift card about noon Jan. 27.
When she got up to the register, she found there was no money on the card.
Another woman reported to store employees about 3:30 p.m. that she had been approached by a man offering her a gift card in exchange for money.

Car Gets Stuck in Back Yard
Police aren't sure why a man drove his car into the back yard of a Webster Road house about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 28.

The car got stuck and the man called AAA to get it towed, leaving ruts in the grass.
Officers learned the driver's name from the tow company, but when they called the phone number he'd used, they reached an angry woman who said the man had stopped by only to use her phone.
The house is vacant.
Game Theft
A Whitney Road man told police he stopped home for lunch Jan. 28 and found all his video games and his PlayStation missing from his apartment.
Police are investigating.
Prowler Reported
Someone was shining a flashlight into the back windows of a house on Oakland Park Drive about 11 pm. Jan. 28.
Police found tracks in the snow outside.
Big Dog Running
A number of people in the area of Quail Hollow Drive reported a St. Bernard running loose about 6 p.m. Jan. 27.
One woman tried to catch the dog on her patio, but it growled at her.
A Brunswick resident managed to get the dog on a leash when it ran onto Drake Road, but couldn't get it in his car.
He agreed to wait with the dog for the animal warden to arrive.
