Police Blotter: Woman Hears Intruder Open Door and Walk Into House

A resident on Wakefield Circle called police about noon Dec. 14 after hearing someone walk into her house.

The woman told police she was upstairs when she heard someone open a door in her garage, then open the laundry room door, which set off a chime.

Her dog was upstairs with her and started barking, a report said.

The intruder then apparently went back out the garage door and closed it, but not all the way.

Police said it was raining, but they could not locate any wet footprints in the garage from an intruder. 

They checked the area and found nothing suspicious.

Couple Separated in Mall Mix-Up

A woman and her husband got so separated at Dec. 14 that she called neighbors to bring her home and the police to find her husband.

A report said the man, 86, dropped off his wife and was supposed to stay there and take her home, but she couldn't find him.

She got a ride home from a neighbor. Police found the man's car about 1:15 p.m., but he wasn't in it.

They eventually tracked him down inside the mall and told him to stop waiting for his wife.

Carport Living?

A maintenance worker at Royalton Greens apartments called police Dec. 12 after finding a makeshift bed and pillow in one of the carports.

He said there are signs posted banning anyone from living in the garages.

He threw away the bedding and asked police to keep an eye on the area to see if someone tries to sleep there again.

Theft on Timber Lake

A bag with a laptop computer was stolen from a car on Timber Lake Drive the night of Dec. 14.

An officer checked the area and found the bag and a day planner behind a tree on Pine Lakes Drive.

Those items were returned, but the laptop is still missing.

Puppy Stolen

A bulldog puppy was stolen from  at Westfield SouthPark Dec. 12.

Witness saw two women wearing red coats smuggle the dog out of the store about 11:45 a.m.

An employee was in the back room when the theft took place.
