Police Blotter: Woman Solves Her Own Theft Case, Gets Her Stuff Back

A Priem Road woman reported that someone took money and a GPS from her unlocked car, then went out and found the culprit, tackled him and got her belongings back -- and someone else's GPS, too, according to a report.

Police said the woman reported the theft about 7:20 a.m. May 24, and said her neighbor had seen a boy in a gray hoodie go by.

Soon after, the woman told police she had found the teen, tackled him, and taken her belongings back, as well as an extra GPS.

She let the teen go. Officers checked Priem Road, but couldn't find him.

Police took the recovered GPS to the station until its owner can be found.

In a related case, a Priem Road resident reported the afternoon of May 24 that some change was taken from an unlocked car that morning.

The caller's son said he saw a male wearing a gray sweatshirt pulling on car door handles that morning. Police told him to call police right away next time he sees something like that.

Scream?

A Pearl Road man said he heard a woman screaming behind his building about 1 a.m. May 24.

Police and a canine officer checked the area, but found nothing suspicious and heard no more screams.

Runaway Found at Zellers

A gym teacher at found a teenager sleeping under the benches on the baseball field about 9:30 a.m. May 24.

Police determined the teen was reported missing from North Royalton.

He was turned over to officers from that city.
