Police Make Accident Reports Available Online

You can now get information on Strongsville traffic mishaps without visiting station

Accident reports are now available online through the city's website.

The police department has recently installed a new feature that allows people to get information about mishaps on the roadways.

To access it, go to the Strongsville website, strongsville.org, hover on "police" on the list of departments at the left, and click on "reports."

You can search for a report by report number, date, name or location.

Police Chief Charles Goss said the department plans to make other incident reports available online later in 2012. Many of those are more sensitive because the identities of victims must be protected.

The move to make reports accessible online was designed to make the process more efficient reduce the need to make paper copies -- at 5 cents a page -- for insurance companies and those involved in the accidents.

Previously, the department had to mail out copies or people had to visit the police station to get them.

By the way, you can also pay a waiverable traffic ticket online. On the city's website, click on "Mayor's Court" on the left. You'll see a link for traffic violations and waivers.
