Police Standoff In Strongsville Ends Peacefully

A domestic violence incident escalated into a standoff between an armed suspect and police. The standoff ended peacefully April 2.

STRONGSVILLE, OH - A stand-off between police and a barricaded suspect on April 2 ended peacefully after SEB, a tactical cooperative of local police departments was able to talk the suspect down.

Police say the incident started at about 1:45 p.m. at the Chestnut Lake Apartments, 17599 Whitney Rd. Officers were called to the scene for a domestic violence report. The victim told police the suspect was armed with a handgun and inside the residence.

The victim was not harmed during the incident, police say. Strongsville Police then called in SEB to assist with the suspect and SEB was able to talk the suspect out of the house without incident.

The male suspect was identified as Jason Edmister and was charged with Domestic Violence. He is at the Strongsville Jail and will be arraigned in Berea Court Monday morning.
