Project Aims at Basement Flooding in Hunting Meadows

Crews will seal cracks in sanitary sewers

About 150 homes in the Hunting Meadows subdivision should see flooding problems improve after a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project.

City Council voted Monday to seek bids for the project.

City Engineer Ken Mikula said homes in Hunting Meadows have historically suffered sanitary sewage backups in their basements during storms because rainwater is infiltrating the sewer lines through cracks at the joints.

"We're going to seal them off so water can't get in," Mikula said.

The work will mainly be done in the area near Shurmer Road.
