Residents Hear Gunshots Coming from Home

The following information was provided by the Strongsville police department

Police officers and firefighters forcibly entered a condo in Meadowood May 25 after neighbors reported hearing gunshots coming from it.

About 1:45 p.m., a Meadownorth Court woman said she kept hearing gunshots coming from one of the units.

Officers checked the yard first, then rang the bell but got no response. Police and firemedics then broke a window to get into the house and encountered the resident, who was uninjured, and who agreed to go to Southwest General Health Center for an evaluation.

The city's Service Department was called to cover the broken window with plywood. Police confiscated the gun.

It's not known if another report of a gunshot that day is related. About 5 a.m., a resident reported hearing a single gunshot coming from the area of Shagbark Trail and Shale Brook Court.

Officers checked, but said it may have been someone setting off firecrackers.

Janowski said the Meadownorth Court man denied firing the gun at that time.
