Retail Boomed in Strongsville this Year

More than a dozen new businesses opened here in 2012

 

At least 10 new restaurants and food-oriented businesses opened in Strongsville in 2012, as did a half-dozen other retail stores.

Rosewood Grill -- The newest member of the Hospitality Restaurants chain started serving this year at the Plaza at SouthPark.

Barking Bullfrog -- The owner of Master Pizzeria at Bennett's Corners expanded next door with a family oriented sports bar.

DC Pasta -- The Italian eatery opened last spring in the former Palate site on Pearl Road.

Chick-fil-A -- The free-standing fast-food restaurant started serving in January in front on Plaza at SouthPark. 

Firehouse Subs -- A franchise of the Florida-based chain opened in the Borders Plaza.

Great Bear Mountain Pie -- The first-of-its-kind restaurant started serving grilled "mountain pie" sandwiches in the food court at SouthPark Mall.

Pholicious -- A new kind of healthy Asian soup stand opened at SouthPark Mall.

And for dessert:

Pure DeLite -- A bakery featuring healthy cupcakes -- made with organic ingredients and less fat -- took over a storefront in Ledgewood Plaza.

Yogurt Vi -- The city's second frozen yogurt shop opened in the Greens of Strongsville, joining Lemonberry.

Menchie's -- The city's third frozen yogurt shop opened on Pearl Road in the site of the former Coldstone Creamery.

Nestle Toll House Cafe -- The first store of its kind in Ohio opened Dec. 19 at SouthPark Mall.

Other businesses:

School of Rock -- A performance-based music school came to Pearl Road.

Family Video -- Strongsville was without a video rental store until this one open on south Pearl Road.

Century Federal Credit Union -- The credit union opened a branch on Pearl Road.

Sweet Kiddles Flexible Child Care -- The first-of-its-kind business brought a new kind of day care and babysitting to town.

Design Surfaces Kitchen and Bath -- The company opened a showroom on Pearl Road.

Discount Drug Mart -- The local chain rebuilt the old Vigliucci's Bi-Rite at the corner of Prospect and Royalton roads.

7 Eleven -- The business known for Slurpees took over the conveniences store inside BP at Royalton and Howe roads.
