School of Rock, a performance-based music academy, will celebrate its grand opening in Strongsville with an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.
The school, which teaches kids and adults to be rock stars, is at 16888 Pearl Road, next to A Taste of Excellence.

Shelley Norehad, who owns two other School of Rock franchises, said the business offers private instrument and vocal lessons, and also assigns students to a band that rehearses together every week.
She said the company also runs a popular "grad school" where people of all ages -- she said most are in their 30s, 40s and 50s -- live out their rock and roll dreams.

Norehad operates School of Rock franchises in Rocky River and Highland Heights. She said she chose Strongsville for the next location because she wanted to expand into the south suburbs.
