School Safety In Strongsville: Community Forum On March 20

Superintendent Cameron Ryba and Police Chief Mark Fender will lead a discussion on how the district protects students and prevents violence.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — On March 20, Strongsville Superintendent Cameron Ryba and Police Chief Mark Fender will lead a community discussion on school safety. In the wake of the Florida school shooting that left 17 people dead, it's a topic that will likely draw a multitude of community members to the event.

Ryba has asked potential attendees to fill out a survey saying how many people they plan to bring to the forum. The superintendent believes the Strongsville City Council Chambers, where the event will be held, may be filled to capacity or even overflowing.

The bright side to the survey is this: Ryba is also soliciting topics for he and Fender to discuss during the forum. If parents want to know how the high school plans to prevent school shootings, they can ask Fender and Ryba to address that. If community members want to know about possible student protests for stricter gun laws, they can ask that.
