Self-Defense Class To Honor Killed Strongsville Teacher
A Strongsville moms group is organizing the event. A local church will play host. Donations will be collected for the Pleskovic family.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — The Strongsville community is still reeling from the brutal murder of Melinda Pleskovic, a 49-year-old school teacher. With many residents still feeling unsafe, a local group is organizing a free self-defense workshop for women and girls. Donations collected during the event will go to the Pleskovic family, as well as the family of Christal Shaver, a North Royalton woman that was killed in Feb. 2016.
The informational safety seminar will be led by Patrolman Marianna Hansen, a veteran Strongsville Police Department officer. A few physical techniques will be discussed, but group organizers say practicing at home will be encouraged. Tips for all ages and physical abilities will be given.
All materials provided during the seminar will be free. Donations at the event will go directly to the Shaver and Pleskovic families.
