Sewer Project Could Tie Up Traffic Near High School

City looking to upgrade lines on Lunn Road

A sewer project on Lunn Road has the potential to cause big traffic headaches, depending on the timing.

The city is seeking bids to replace about 300 feet of sanitary sewer line on Lunn to alleviate backups and flooding, City Engineer Ken Mikula said.

But officials are worried about the project closing lanes on the road.

"There's a ton of traffic -- it's right near ," Ward 4 Councilman Scott Maloney said.

Mikula said the city will award a bid and work with the contractor to see if the job could be done during spring break or after school lets out for the summer.

"We'll see what the contractor's schedule is like," he said.

Mikula said last summer and fall were traced to an undersized, deteriorated section of sanitary sewer on Lunn Road. The $127,000 project will increase the size of the line.
