Sobriety Checkpoint To Be Held In Cuyahoga County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will run an OVI checkpoint on Saturday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold a sobriety checkpoint in Cuyahoga County on Saturday. Authorities will announce the exact location of the checkpoint on Saturday morning.

“Based on provisional data, there were 33 OVI-related fatal crashes last year in Cuyahoga County, Lieutenant R. Gable, commander of the Cleveland Post said. “State troopers make on average 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”

The OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grant monies, the Highway Patrol said. Each checkpoint is designed to deter and intercept impaired drivers. There will also be saturation patrols running concurrently with the checkpoint, with patrolmen looking for impaired drivers.
