Sobriety Checkpoint Will Be Held In Cuyahoga County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it plans to hold an OVI checkpoint on Friday.

BROOK PARK, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Cuyahoga County on Friday. The exact location of the checkpoint will be revealed tomorrow morning.

The checkpoint will be operated by the Highway Patrol's Cleveland Post, located in Brook Park. The patrol will use federal funds to pay for the operation.

“Based on provisional data, there were 33 OVI (impaired driving) related fatal crashes last year in Cuyahoga County," Lieutenant R. Gable, commander of the Cuyahoga Metro Post, said. “State troopers make on average 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”
