State Of The Schools Survey Released In Strongsville

The district is asking residents what they would like to see covered in the upcoming event.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — At a yet-to-be announced date, Strongsville Schools Superintendent Cameron Ryba will provide residents, staff and students with the 'State of the Schools' address. Before that happens, the district is asking residents what they want to hear covered in the speech.

The survey asks residents to fill out a fairly short Google form. The first, and most important question, in the document asks what topics Ryba should cover in his speech.

The district also asks how people will want to attend the event. There are options to see the speech at a local school building, to watch it being streamed online or to read about it afterward.

It's been a busy year for the Strongsville City Schools. Six months ago, Ryba's contract to serve as superintendent was renewed through 2023. That decision came shortly after the district was ranked as the 115th best high school in the state by US News & World Report. Those ranks were somewhat controversial.

Only 32 percent of Strongsville High students participate in AP Testing, though 80 percent of those students receive "passing" grades on the exams. The high school received a "silver medal" in the report.

For comparison, let's look at Avon Lake High School, which ranked 13th in the state and received a "gold medal". Avon Lake received a 62.0 on its college readiness score. Additionally, 72 percent of students take part in AP Testing, with 81 percent passing.
