Strongsville Board Of Education Member Steps Down

The board is now looking for applicants to fill the vacated seat.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville Board of Education member Colonel Duke Evans resigned on Thursday. The board is now looking for applicants to fill his vacant seat.

Evans served on the Strongsville Board of Education for six years. He said he was proud of his work for the district but was leaving to pursue other interests.

"Strongsville City Schools is one of the top districts in the state by every measure. Under the able leadership of Superintendent Cameron Ryba and Treasurer George Anagnostou, our district will continue to excel and keep Strongsville an admired and highly sought community. I wish them, our teachers, and wonderful staff continued success," said Evans.

Applicants for the vacated board seat must be at least 18 and live in the Strongsville City Schools district. Applicants must also be registered voters.

To apply, residents can get an application at the Strongsville Schools Administrative Offices, 18199 Cook Avenue, or visit the district's website. Applicants will need to submit a cover letter, a resume and the completed application to Anagnostou via email, or bring the application package to the Administrative Offices.

The deadline for applying for the board position is Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. Interviews will begin occurring during a special board meeting on Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. The board will then vote on the replacement on Jan. 22.

The newly-appointed board member will serve until Dec. 31, 2021.
