Strongsville Car Chase Ends in Accident, Arrests

STRONGSVILLE, OH - Two juveniles have been arrested for stealing a car parked at BP Gas Station, 16625 Royalton Road on Dec. 27.

The incident took place at about 9 p.m. A driver of a 2002 Buick went into the gas station and the two juveniles hopped in the car and sped off towards Interstate 71. A Strongsville police officer was working the interstate at the time and saw the vehicle on I-71.

The officer attempted to signal the vehicle and get it to stop. The drivers ignored the officer and a pursuit ensued. During the chase, Strongsville Police Chief Jim Kobiak says the stolen Buick hit another car going north on I-71, causing a crash.

The two juveniles were fine and were placed under arrest. They are currently being held at the Strongsville Police Station.

Kobiak says that no one was injured due to the car accident. The incident is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Kobiak adds that dash cam video will be made available to the public once the highway patrol has completed its investigation.
