STRONGSVILLE COMFORCARE HOME CARE TO HOST FREE DEMENTIAWISE WORKSHOPS JUNE 24

DementiaWise is designed to enhance the lives of those living with dementia

On June 24, ComForCare of Strongsville will host free workshops imparting best practices for caring with those with dementia on Wednesday, June 24. Held at Altenheim & Shurmer Place located 18821 Shurmer Road, the workshop is part of ComForCare’s DementiaWise program, a nationwide program designed to enhance the lives of those living with dementia. ComForCare will host two workshops: the first, beginning with a breakfast at 8 a.m. and starting at 9 a.m., is intended for health care professionals and runs until 12:15 p.m.; the second, aimed at family caregivers, begins with registration at 5 p.m. with the educational workshop to follow at 6 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m. Those interested in attending can register at Dementiawise.com or by calling 440-638-7001.

Hosted by ComForCare of Strongsville owner Deb Vermillion, RN, the workshops represent her continued efforts to educate and empower both those with dementia as well as their loved ones.

“I’ve found that without question the most useful tool to help care for those with dementia is knowledge, enhanced by compassion,” said Vermillion. “Those are the principles by which we’ve cared for seniors at ComForCare to great success, and those are the principles we’ll impart at the workshops. Both care professionals and family caregivers alike stand to gain a lot of insight into best care practices for caring for those with dementia, from how to recognize the first signs of dementia to how to best handle its effects.”
