Strongsville Declares Day Of Celebration For Mike Kalinich, Sr.​

To celebrate his 90th birthday, Strongsville declared Monday Mike Kalinich, Sr. Day.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — On his 90th birthday, Mike Kalinich, Sr. was recognized by Strongsville Mayor Tom Perciak.

Perciak declared Monday a Day of Celebration for Kalinich, in honor of the business owner's contributions to the city over the years.

“We acknowledge your life and the mark you have make on each and every one of us,” Perciak said.

Kalinich owns the Kalinich Fence Company, one of the largest and oldest manufacturers of snow fence (also known as utility fence) in the nation. The company was founded in 1920 and passed into Mike's hands in 1954.

Kalinich is a longtime member of the Strongsville City Club, a former president and lifetime trustee of the Chamber of Commerce and served for more than 25 years on the Southwest General Board. Residents likely know his face from popular events like the city Rib Burnoff or Breakfast at the Bridge.

Kalinich and his wife, Erma, have been married 66 years. They have three children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
