According to the DECA website, the students can participate in competitive events that more than 10,000 members compete in. Fifty Strongsville High students competed against more than 2,000 students in the DECA State Competition held in Columbus in order to qualify, according to the school’s Facebook page. The number of students sent to the state competition was also another record number.
The 12 Strongsville students will compete in individual or team activities that will test them on creative problem solving and coming up with a logical presentation of a case study they've just read, reported Cleveland.com. They also report that DECA competitions include a written test on business and marketing information, as well as role-playing and problem-solving events where students are judged on their ability to solve problem situations in a variety of industry categories.
