Strongsville Nurse Honored for Compassionate Care

Megan Di Salvo RN BSN, a nurse in MetroHealth’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, was honored with the DAISY Award.

DAISY Diseases Attacking the Immune System) is a foundation started in 1999 by the Jamily of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP).

His family wanted to recognize "the skillful and amazingly compassionate care he received from his nurses - even when he was totally sedated."

Megan was nominated by Dr. Deepak Kumar, a neonatologist in the NICU.
