Strongsville Pitcher Leads Tri-C to First Win

Baseball team made road trip to North Carolina for spring games

A host of area student athletes shined bright for the Cuyahoga Community College baseball team during its season-opening road trip to Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C.

The Challengers defeated Wilkes, 11-1 and 8-3, before losing to Wilkes, 8-5, and Burlington (N.J.) County College, 11-6, to begin the 2011 campaign 2-2 overall.

In the first win over Wilkes, Ryan Bores  of Strongsville, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound right-hander, allowed just two hits over six solid innings for the victory.  Chad Opalich (Hudson), a shortstop, delivered two key hits to ignite the offense.
