Strongsville Police: Be Careful Warming Your Car
The department told residents on Facebook that warming your car up is illegal in Ohio and an easy way to get your car stolen.
STRONGSVILLE, OH - Police are asking residents to protect themselves and their cars from potential thieves. The department has been posting tips and warning on its official Facebook page.
First, the department advised people that warming their cars up in the morning (a common practice among us snowed in Ohioans) is actually bad for your car and illegal in the state of Ohio. More importantly, it makes your car vulnerable to potential thieves.
Other Greater Cleveland suburbs, namely Shaker Heights, have been asking residents to not leave their cars running and unattended in the morning, or at any other time, because it leaves the vehicle vulnerable to theft.

Police are also warning residents to be cautious keeping a spare FOB key in their car. Why? Because if you forget to lock your car doors, you're handing keys to a potential car jacker. Even if you do lock your car, a car thief is one broken window away from making off with your car.
Some car thieves are also using new anti-security measures to bypass keyless theft prevention measures, the department says. So you may want to park your car in a garage, if you're able.
