Strongsville Preschool Earns 5-Star Rating

STRONGSVILLE, OH — The Strongsville Early Learning Preschool has earned five star status from the State of Ohio, the district announced on Friday. This is the second straight year the school has gotten five star status.

Stars are awarded to schools through the state's "Step Up To Quality" program. The system is designed to recognize early learning and development programs that meet and exceed Ohio's quality standards. Five stars is the highest possible rating a school can receive.

“We are extremely proud of our District’s Early Learning Preschool. To be recognized with the state’s highest five star rating in back-to-back years is a testament to the care and dedication the entire staff provides to our youngest students on a daily basis. We are appreciative of their efforts in building foundations and preparing our young students for continued success in the Strongsville City School District,” said Strongsville Superintendent Cameron Ryba in a statement.

Programs that earn a five star rating must:

• Exceed learning standards
• Have low staff/child ratios
• Use child assessment results to plan activities that best support learning and development goals for each child
• Share assessment results and create goals for children
• Develop plans to support children as they transition to a new classroom or educational setting
• Partner with other organizations or businesses within the community to support children and their families
• Have an active and organized parent volunteer group
• Use input from families and community partners to assist in the program’s continuous improvement process
• Have accreditation by an approved organization
