Strongsville Republicans to Host Local Presidential Caucus

Local GOP club will hear from four campaigns Feb. 13

The Strongsville Republican Club will host its first-ever Presidential caucus Feb. 13, with representatives from each of four Presidential candidates' campaigns slated to speak.

The public is invited to the session, set for 7 p.m. at Old Town Hall, 18825 Royalton Rd.

"It should be an interesting evening," Club President Dave Gusman said.

Each representative will speak for about five minutes. Afterward, the club will conduct a straw poll to see which candidate's campaign fared the best.

Representatives from the campaigns of Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul have been tapped to speak at the meeting.

The hotly contested race . Gusman said that in past years, the Republican Club didn't have caucuses because the nominee was already decided before Ohioans voted.

The anyone-guess race has livened up the process this year, he said.

"It's really giving the Republicans an opportunity to talk about the issues, as opposed to the election turning into a series of attacks," he said.
