Strongsville Schools Get 'B' On State Report Card
The district improved its performance in some categories and held steady in others.
STRONGSVILLE, OH — The controversial state report cards grading each school system in the state were released Thursday. The Strongsville City Schools receive an overall grade of "B."
Districts are graded on six components and on student performance on state assessments administered to students in grades 3-12.
Strongsville received the following grades on each section of the report card:

- Achievement — B
- Progress — A
- Gap closing — A
- Graduation rate — A
- Improving at-risk K-3 readers — C
- Prepared for success — C
“While it does not completely define our District, the report card is one measure that we utilize to help evaluate the progress of our students. I am extremely proud of our teachers, support staff, and administration for the work they have done to create positive learning environments resulting in significant student growth and advancement. We will continue to challenge ourselves to provide our students with the resources and experiences for success in career, college, or military, no matter the pathway they choose,” said Cameron Ryba, superintendent of Strongsville Schools.

The "Gap Closing" metric shows a school system's ability to serve "vulnerable" students in English, language arts, math, graduation, and English language proficiency.
State officials said performances on the report cards improved statewide.
"This year’s report cards show continuous improvement is ongoing and that, across Ohio, we are getting better and better at challenging, preparing and empowering each child,” said Paolo DeMaria, superintendent of public instruction.
