Strongsville Schools Plan Special POW Dedication Ceremony for Oct. 28 Football Game
The Strongsville VFW Honor Guard and students from the first Air Force Junior ROTC class at Strongsville High School will take part.

STRONGSVILLE, OH - The Strongsville Mustangs football team will be ready to play the Brunswick Blue Devils Oct. 28. To make sure fans are equally as hyped, the district has a number of special events planned surrounding the game.
Senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members will be introduced, along with their parents, in a
“Senior Recognition” ceremony. Following this pre-game recognition, two dedications will take place. A POW/MIA seat in the first row of the bleachers at the 50-yard line at Pat Catan Stadium will be dedicated to the memory of the more than 92,000 American soldiers who are prisoners of war and those missing in action and to the sacrifices each made in serving this country.

A new seventy foot flagpole and fifteen foot by twenty five foot flag will also be officially dedicated and recognized as part of the upgrades to Pat Catan Stadium, made possible through private donations by individuals and civic organizations. The Strongsville VFW Honor Guard and students from the first Air Force Junior ROTC class at Strongsville High School will take part in this special dedication ceremony.
At halftime, a 2016 Chevy Cruze will be given away to the lucky ticket drawn in this year’s Strongsville Car Raffle, sponsored by The Chevy Network and Serpentini Chevrolet of Strongsville. All proceeds from ticket sales for the raffle will benefit the Strongsville City School District, as well as other Strongsville school and community groups, enhancing the educational opportunities of all students in the District.

Fans are also encouraged to bring a donation to the Strongsville Food Bank, as part of a “Fill the Bus” event. A Strongsville City Schools bus will be parked outside of the main gates at Pat Catan Stadium, as non-perishables are collected for this local resource. Canned tuna fish, canned vegetables, canned fruit, and boxes of kleenex are some of the important needs for the Food Bank
