Strongsville Schools Prep For Extended Closure Due To Coronavirus
Superintendent Cameron Ryba said the district is working on what education will look like if students cannot return to class.
STRONGSVILLE, OH — The Strongsville Schools will provide optional educational suggestions for students to follow during their three-week state-mandated break. Should the break be extended, plans may change, Superintendent Cameron Ryba said on Monday.
"The plan through April 3rd remains unchanged. Strongsville Schools will be providing students educational suggestions/options to continue their learning. These are suggestions/options. Meaning, work is not required to be turned in for a grade. Communication of these educational suggestions/options will be through the teacher’s website, Google Classroom, Unified Classroom, email, and/or other means as communicated by the building principal," Ryba said in an emailed statement.
All Ohio schools were ordered closed last week due to the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19. Gov. Mike DeWine said schools must be closed for at least three weeks, but has since hinted that students may not return to classes this school year.

"If the state directs us to keep schools closed beyond April 6th, I will share the plan (the week of March 30th) for what continued educational services, supports, and learning will look like for our students. If school is closed April 6th and beyond, meal services to families in need will be continued," Ryba said in his letter to families.
Breakfast and lunch pick-up at Strongsville Schools started Tuesday. Families receiving meals should have received a letter from the district, but anyone who needs meal support can email the superintendent and ask to be included in the program.
