Strongsville Schools Release Quality Profile
The district released its first ever quality profile this year and asked residents to use it as a gauge of the district's success.

STRONGSVILLE, OH - The Strongsville City School District has completed its first Quality Profile and is releasing its findings to the public. The twelve page document provides an overview of the district. The Quality Profile is being mailed to over 20,000 homes and businesses in Strongsville.
Sections of the Quality Profile include academics, arts, athletics, fiscal responsibility, student services, student leadership and activities, district awards, and parent/community involvement. The individual sections provide examples of the accomplishments of the students, teachers, staff, and the District. The Quality Profile is meant to go beyond the State Report Card and highlight items not necessarily measured by those scores.
The State Report Card grades were particularly controversial this year, with a number of districts scoring lower-than-normal grades. Several districts criticized the state's testing methods and said they were not a fair representation of the education being offered.

Strongsville's grades on the State Report Card were:
- Achievement - C
- Progress - B
- Gap Closing - F
- Graduation Rate - A
- Prepared for Success - C
- K-3 Literacy - C
"Many high achieving school districts, including Westlake, are seeing much lower grades on this year’s report card than in years past," a statement from Westlake Schools says. "It’s important to know that the report card is just one snapshot into a school district and does not accurately represent the quality learning and teaching going on in our schools."

The state's test scores also came under criticism from Solon School District's Superintendent Joseph Regano. He cautioned that the state accountability system has serious flaws when so few districts and students statewide are showing improving results. Due to the continuing changes in the assessment system and dramatic ramping up of cut scores on those assessments each year, the results are losing important context, he said.
Due to the rampant criticism surrounding the State Report Cards, many school districts turned to Quality Profiles to try and communicate, what they say, is their true educational value to their community. Strongsville Schools had not released a Quality Profile prior to this year.
“We are excited and proud to send the first Strongsville City Schools Quality Profile to our community, highlighting the achievements of our students, staff, and District. There are so many successes happening daily in each of our schools and we hope this document provides a glimpse into the growth and development of our students both inside and outside of the classroom. Ultimately, the Quality Profile reflects a strong District, supported by a strong community,” said Superintendent of Strongsville City Schools Cameron Ryba.
