Strongsville's Crimcheck Holdings Makes Prestigious Business List
The background check company has grown its revenue 55 percent over the past three years.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Crimcheck Holdings, a Strongsville-based background checks company, has made the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in America. Crimcheck clocked in at 4,512. The company is relatively small, with approximately 25 employees.
"This is the first time we've made the list," CEO and Crimcheck Owner Tom Shieh told Patch. "I felt like this year, in particular, our team has been working very diligently. I thought it would be worthwhile and a great acknowledgement of their work."
Over the past three years, Inc. estimates that Crimcheck has grown its revenue by 55 percent. The company's 2016 revenue is projected to be about $4.5 million. Shieh said there's no magic trick to his company's success, no one thing that can be pointed to and gleaned. Instead, he said, it's the small things that his employees do well, a diligent attention to detail that reaps major rewards.
"It’s finding those little things, cost savings, and conversion rate improvements, and other things. When you make those small-tuned adjustments you get a compounded effect," he said. "We track various components of our business and we continue to improve. I’m a believer in constant and never-ending improvement."

That never-ending improvement must be coupled with a "love" for customers, Shieh said. He warned that some companies in the background check game can start to view the industry as rote and perfunctory.
"However, the industry shifts, the way our clients shift or their needs change, we want to stay on the cusp and the forefront to make sure we provide the best service to our customers. We want to grow and be a part of their growth. I feel positive and optimistic about where we’re heading," Shieh said.
