
Betty Sutton said today she will seek to represent northeast Ohioans in the newly created 16th Congressional District.
“Ohio families are hurting, and I can’t stand by on the sidelines while Republicans like Jim Renacci continue to enrich millionaires at the expense of the Ohio workers who struggle every day to provide for their families,” Sutton said in a news release.
She said she is running because she believes Ohio's workers are able to compete globally.

"Wall Street and special interests have enough representation in Washington, and we need someone who will fight for a stronger middle class. Jim Renacci has repeatedly voted against the interests of working families and to end the Medicare guarantee for seniors."
Sutton’s current Congressional district, the 13th of Ohio, was disassembled during what her news release calls "a closed-door partisan redistricting process by a coalition of Columbus and Washington Republican insiders."

She and her husband live in the new 16th district. , now lies in the 16th.
The new 16th District stretches northwest to North Olmsted, Fairview Park and Westlake, and include Olmsted Falls, Middleburg Heights, North Royalton, Brunswick, Medina, Hinckley, Wadsworth, Wooster, Orrville and North Canton.
Sutton has fought for stronger "buy America" laws to revitalize the nation's manufacturing base. She has also authored and passed "stop-loss" legislation that ensured military personnel received fair pay for time served.
