Tour Boathouse, New Store at Hinckley Lake

Tour the newly renovated Hinckley Lake Boathouse and Store on Sunday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley Reservation 

Celebrate the grand opening by entering a drawing for a free boat rental.

Boat rental season begins in mid-April to coincide with the fish stocking of Hinckley Lake. The Boathouse and Store will have canoes, kayaks (both single and tandems), rowboats (with and without motors), stand up paddleboards, pedal boats, and two pontoon boats. Rental prices range from $13 to $60.

The boathouse and store are now managed by EarthWords Nature Shops. New boats will be available to rent this season.

Store hours will be 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. (October through March) and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (April through September).

A variety of fishing supplies like fishing lines, lures, bobbers, bait buckets, hooks, nets, and three types of fresh bait (minnows, night-crawlers and maggots) will be for sale.

The store will also rent rods and reels, and carry picnic supplies like ice, charcoal and paper products.

The new store also features an assortment of adult and children's apparel, including adult spring jackets, sweatshirts, T-shirts, button-down shirts, bamboo socks, caps, sunhats, and visors. Other novelty items available are ponchos, umbrellas, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, lotions, and an assortment of books, such as Field Guides and local area books, fishing and boating books, and the "Fascinated Naturalist" series, created by Cleveland Metroparks own Jennifer Brumfield.

 During the winter months, the Boathouse and Store will carry hooded sweatshirts and fleece jackets, as well as ice cleats.

Light refreshments and some microwaveable items will also be available for purchase.

The open house March 18 will coincide with Buzzard Sunday, which runs 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Buzzards Roost.

Hinckley Lake Boathouse is at 1 West Drive in Hinckley Reservation, between Bellus and State roads in HinckleyTownship.
