Traffic Pattern Changing At Muraski Elementary

All drivers will have to turn right when leaving the school during popular pick-up and drop-off times, police said.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — The traffic pattern around Muraski Elementary will be changed, police announced on Monday. The police department had received "many complaints" about issues around the school.

All vehicles, sans schools buses, will now have to turn right onto Royalton Road when leaving Muraski between 8:25 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. and between 3:10 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. Police said this will keep traffic from backing up in the school parking lot. The new policy goes into effect Feb. 19.

Drivers that usually turn left when leaving Muraski will need to go to Prospect and then use Westwood or Lunn to go east.

"Yes, it might take an extra minute or two to do that, but with everyone turning right, you’ll also get out of the school driveway much faster," police said on Facebook.

Strongsville Police said they've been working with the school district for some time to improve traffic flow and safety near Muraski. On Feb. 19, when parents drop-off and pick-up their kids, the traffic pattern will change.

"Please do NOT use a private property, like business parking lots, to turn around on Royalton Road after leaving the school. Please just continue to Prospect," police advised drivers.
